Located directly downtown Juneau, the Silverbow Inn has become my new favorite hotel in the city. It’s fresh and beautiful kept, it’s in a great location and bonus, it’s got hot tubs on the roof! I love visiting Juneau but it always is such a busy trip that it’s tough to squirrel away some relaxation time, but here it’s different. I found the Silverbow Inn to be both a retreat from my bustling days and a great homebase for playing tourist.
From the nice rooms to the unexpected amenities, we’ve got the full scoop on what you can expect with staying at the Silverbow Inn in Juneau. This is a great pick for a few nights’ getaway to Alaska’s capital city. If you have any questions about staying at the Silverbow Inn or need additional recommendations for things to do in Juneau, please leave a comment or send us a note. We’re always happy to share more and help you plan a fun trip to Alaska.

Why Choose the Silverbow Inn
The Silverbow Inn strikes me much more as a boutique hotel that you’d find in a major city. It’s cool and combines modern elements and decor with Alaska art and antiques. It’s a fun vibe from arrival to departure. The hotel is comprised of several buildings all connected through hallways, and a variety of outdoor deck spaces. I think a highlight for staying at the Silverbow Inn is getting to enjoy the rooftop hot tubs with views of Juneau and the surrounding mountains.
The Silverbow Inn is a contactless property but there is still staff onsite if you have any questions or need anything. All arrival information is provided plenty in advance and access to the lobby and your room is done with a code. If you’re not tech savvy, that’s fine, because the Silverbow doesn’t use an app or anything, but is just using the available technology to make things easier and more flexible for different kinds of travelers. Whether you’re going to be a later arrival or early departure, accessing the Silverbow Inn is easy.
I particularly love the location of the hotel. I always like staying in downtown Juneau, and the Silverbow Inn is just far enough up the hill from the cruise port that it doesn’t feel like you’re in a cruise town that sees an influx of 20k people every day during the summer. You’re still walking distance to everything, it’s just that you’re one block off where most day visitors end up walking to, making it a very quiet place to stay

Silverbow Inn Amenities
Without question, the best amenity at the Silverbow Inn is being able to enjoy a rooftop hot tub surrounded by mountains and looking out at the Gastineau Channel. And there’s not just one hot tub on the roof, but two! Juneau is a cool city, and getting to enjoy the setting from the roof while the sun drops behind the mountains is kind of amazing, and not what you’d likely picture in Alaska. In addition to the two hot tubs on the roof, there are seating areas, a fir pit, and the best vibes in downtown. I really love it.
The Silverbow Inn doesn’t stop with its hot tubs though, as there are actually some other great amenities that add a lot of value to staying here. Every morning in the lobby there is a full breakfast available (included) and all day long there’s coffee and tea, as well as different snacks throughout the day. The lobby atmosphere is modern and cozy, and with many guests choosing to actually relax and hangout in the public spaces, it actually feels like when you’d go to your neighborhood coffee shop in the early 2000s and you could actually sit and enjoy the space. The Silverbow Inn has managed to recreate a vibe and guest experience that I haven’t felt in a hotel or tourist space in years.
When you stay at the Silverbow Inn you’ll also have some nice conveniences too. The rooms have amazing bedding and really nice fixtures, including GOOD window shades. Not enough hotels in Alaska do a good job at making rooms dark enough for summer months, so I appreciate it when we find one that cares. There’s also fun bathrobes in the rooms and on site laundry. The Silverbow Inn is a great homebase to be able to feel at home and have your travel needs easily met.

Room Options at the Silverbow Inn
I love the rooms at the Silverbow Inn. They’re all modern and interesting, and the decor is so cool. They are well appointed with useful amenities, nice bath products, and strong wifi. There are only 16 rooms in the whole hotel, but they are each unique and lovely. Whether you’re a family traveling or you’re exploring Southeast Alaska with a buddy, there’s a room type for you:
- Standard Queen – queen bed with a 3/4 bath
- Superior Twin – good sized room with two twin beds and a full bathroom
- Superior Queen – queen bed and full bathroom
- Superior King – sleeps two but can accommodate mobile beds if needed to sleep up to four
- Presidential King Suite – a complete apartment with a kitchen and dining room, sleeps six
- Deluxe King Suite – has a separate bedroom with the king bed, a galley kitchen, dining space and living room, sleeps four
- Penthouse King Suite – really beautiful room with a view and a great kitchenette
I love how modern the Silverbow Inn is, and all of the rooms reflect both a great updated Alaskan style AND they’re comfortable. It reminds me a bit of the Wildbirch Hotel in Anchorage, but with more space.

Juneau Dining Near the Silverbow Inn
I love the location of the Silverbow Inn when it comes to finding good food nearby. The blocks around the hotel are loaded with good eats, and you’re just a few blocks from the food truck park. Remember, breakfast is included when you stay here, but if you do want to seek out an alternative, the Rookery Cafe is just a block away and it’s always good, including great coffee and pastries to go.
More places you love in Juneau near the Silverbow Inn include In Bocca al Lupo (and you can smell it from in the hotel), the Crystal Saloon (best bread bowl chowder), the Hangar on the Wharf (good fish and chips), and Spice (good Indian food).

Location of the Silverbow Inn
There is limited parking at the Silverbow Inn, but very few guests usually have their own cars so if you do need it, hopefully it’ll be available. Call the hotel or use their text message system to confirm parking spot availability. It is $24 per night and located directly at the hotel. If you don’t have a car, Juneau is really easy to enjoy on foot. The streets are very walkable and a lot of the downtown attractions are just steps away. If you’re doing any guided tours, they can likely pick you up here at the Silverbow Inn or a few blocks away at the cruise port.

More Things to do in Juneau, Alaska
I think Juneau is a fun city and it’s set in one of the most beautiful areas. If I were moving back to Alaska I would move to Juneau. Surrounding by mountains and the Tongass National Forest, there are loads of outdoor things to do in Juneau. Pair the surrounding waters of the Inside Passage and close proximity to Glacier Bay National Park (accessible by water) and you’ve got a hub of beauty and adventure.
What really sets Juneau apart though is the presence of Alaska Native culture. From the people you meet to the shops in the tourist areas, the totem poles on the waterfront to the Tlingit art at the Sealaska Center, the indigenous cultures of Southeast Alaska are alive and well here in Juneau. As you plan the things to do that are most important to you, make sure you include some time to learn about the peoples whose ancestral lands you are visiting.
- Alaska State Museum
- walk the waterfront to see totem poles and the humpback whale fountain
- visit Mendenhall Glacier
- visit Cope Park for the beautiful stream, trails and playground
- go kayaking and bald eagle watching
- check out local indigenous art at the Sealaska Center
Dining in Juneau
I think Juneau is one of the better towns in Alaska for good food. Whether you’re sticking around downtown or you’re heading up to Auke Bay, there are lots of good places to eat in Juneau. We’ve picked some of our favorites for meals and drinks, but there are MANY more options around town for a great meal. One of the coolest places to find food in Juneau is actually the food truck park. You’ll find salmon tacos, burgers, oysters and Alaskan beverages. There is often live music and it’s a good combination of tourist and locals.
- Hangar on the Wharf – mellow, pub fare
- El Sombrero – good Mexican food
- Sacred Grounds Cafe – indigenous owned, LGBTQ+ inclusive for drinks and grab-n-go breakfast or simple lunch
- Deckhand Dave’s Fish Tacos (in the food truck park)
- SALT – a bit fancier
- Devil’s Club Brewing Co – brewery with pub food
Where to Stay in Juneau
I like staying in downtown Juneau because it’s such a walkable town, but if you’re planning to be here for a few days and really explore the area there are LOTS of cabins and vacation rentals away from the city, including up in beautiful Auke Bay. Be prepared for higher hotel and vacation rental costs due to limited inventory. Alaska isn’t an inexpensive destination, but the experience is worth it.
Since you’re already planning on visiting Juneau, you might as well poke around and see what other beautiful sights and cool things to do there are in Southeast Alaska. This region is such a fun place and the options are endless. For your consideration, here are some more ideas for your visit to Southeast Alaska and the Tongass National Forest:
I hope you’re excited to enjoy some time at the Silverbow Inn, and that you carve out some time during your stay for the rooftop hot tubs. Between the beautiful views and sense of Alaskan adventure, I know you’ll love it. If you have any questions about visiting Juneau or the rest of Southeast Alaska, please leave a comment or send us a note.
