It only takes an afternoon to see how Alaska is very different from the rest of the USA. Alaskans are proud of their state and as you get away from Anchorage, you may find that there is a certain charm and respite in exploring the less developed side of Alaska. Alaskans are kind and helpful, and they won’t leave you in despair, but they also are very protective of the Alaskan way of life, their heritage, and are cautious of letting it be overrun by tourism.
