Why Choose the Seward Windsong Lodge
Location, location, location. The Seward Windsong Lodge is in a prime area for enjoying all things on the East side of the Kenai. Just outside of downtown and on the same road as Kenai Fjords National Park’s Exit Glacier, it’s a great spot to be based. When it comes to the rooms, they are Alaska chic, meaning they are woodsy with rustic touches, but nice and they’ve been well maintained. The rooms at the Seward Windsong Lodge are not fancy, but they are some of the nicest accommodations in Seward and are great if you’re traveling with kids.
Room Types at the Windsong
The Seward Windsong Lodge offers a range of room types to suit different preferences and budgets, so you’re sure to find something that works for you. The standard rooms are a great choice if you’re looking for a comfortable place to rest your head after a long day out on a Kenai Fjords Tour or hiking and exploring. If you want a little extra space and privacy, you might want to opt for a standard room with its own deck. And if you’re looking for something a bit more luxurious, the premium rooms have been recently renovated and are sure to impress.
For families who need a bit more space, the suites are a great option. They come with two queen beds and an additional twin bed, as well as a living area or table space where you can spread out and relax. And if you’re planning on spending a lot of time in your room, the suites have a nice partition setup that allows for a bit of separation between the sleeping and living areas.
One thing to keep in mind is that there’s no air conditioning in the rooms at the Seward Windsong Lodge. But don’t worry – the windows open and have screens, so you can let in plenty of fresh air. And let’s be real, you probably won’t be spending too much time in your room anyway with all the amazing things to see and do in the area.
In my opinion, the best type of room at the Seward Windsong Lodge is the standard deck room. It’s got all the same great features as the standard room, but with the added bonus of a private balcony where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air. It’s a small upgrade that can make a big difference in your stay, in particular if you’re traveling with kids. Of course, the type of room you choose will depend on your budget and your family’s needs. But no matter which room you end up in, you’re sure to have a great time at the Seward Windsong Lodge.
Seward Windsong Lodge Amenities
While it may not be the most luxurious or amenity-packed option out there, the Seward Windsong Lodge has got everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Sure, you won’t find any swimming pools or hot tubs here, but that’s okay: you’re in Alaska! Even on those rare 70+ degree days, most visitors aren’t really looking to take a dip. Instead, you can take a walk along the Resurrection River when it’s nice or enjoy the lodge’s cozy lobby, complete with a warm fire on chilly days. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
The Seward Windsong Lodge also offers a few convenient amenities to make your stay stress-free. Need to use a computer? No problem, they’ve got you covered with guest computers in the lobby. And if you’re looking to take home a souvenir or need some last-minute essentials, check out the gift shop.
Oh, and if you’re planning on doing some wildlife spotting in the stunning Kenai Fjords National Park, you can even borrow binoculars and hiking poles from the front desk (just make sure to ask about availability when you arrive).

Dining at the Seward Windsong Lodge
I love the Resurrection Roadhouse and we’ve eaten here many times. Whether we’re staying at the Seward Windsong Lodge or not, the Roadhouse is our standard dinner after doing the Kenai Fjords Tour. There is the main dining room and then the bar area. I love the view from the dining room. Once we were having dinner and happened to see a mama bear and three cubs cross the snowfield across the river. Beautiful evening wildlife sighting from our dinner table.
There’s also a coffee bar in the lobby of the Seward Windsong Lodge. Whether you’re grabbing an iced coffee to go or need an easy breakfast to take on the road, they open early enough to make sure fishermen and Fjords-goers get their fix before heading out.

Dining in Seward
I’ll be honest, Seward is not my favorite town for cuisine in Alaska. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but its options are limited. I always like to set realistic expectations for anyone visiting a place for the first time. Having said that, here are our top picks for dining in Seward:
- Porthole Cafe – in the marina, food truck
- Resurrection Roadhouse – located at the Seward Windsong Lodge
- Red’s Burgers – walk up dining
- Highliner Restaurant – great food, well established
- Lone Chicharron – solid choice for Mexican food
